Carl Malmsten once answered the question of how a chair is made: “A chair always succeeds another chair; they grow out of each other”. In Malmsten’s case, the chairs had their roots both in the rich soil of Swedish furniture tradition and in his own luxuriant garden. In Malmsten’s words, a chair could be described as: “safe, lush and summer-friendly…”
